Literacy: Not just for books

Nutritional knowledge directly impacts health, proving education’s tangible, life-saving power beyond the classroom.

Literacy: Not just for books
FO Take · Score 85

The notion that education is solely academic is a dangerous fallacy. True learning equips individuals with practical, life-altering skills. Nutritional literacy, often overlooked, directly dictates public health outcomes. Ignoring such vital knowledge in favour of abstract curricula is a dereliction of our educational duty. We must prioritise skills that foster genuine well-being, not just intellectual gymnastics. Are our schools truly preparing students for life, or merely for exams?

The strongest counter

While nutritional literacy is important, general academic achievement develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills applicable to all aspects of life, including health decisions.
