Early Screening: Educational Panacea or Bureaucratic Blindfold?
Malaysian education ministry pushes early diagnosis for learning difficulties, raising questions about systemic support versus labels.

Mandating early screening for learning difficulties is a superficial fix. It’s a cynical move to offload systemic educational failures onto individual children and their families. Labelling children as "difficult" before offering truly inclusive, adaptable learning environments is an abdication of responsibility. Education must adapt to learners, not the other way around. This policy breeds exclusion.
Early screening enables timely intervention, providing crucial support pathways for children who need it most. Identifying challenges early can prevent greater difficulties later, fostering better educational outcomes and personal development.
