Neural networks are moving to the edge, promising lower latency and more efficient cyber-physical systems. The cloud is dead, long live the edge.
FO Take · Score 78
The cloud promised everything, delivered latency. Now, the “edge” arrives, a rebrand of decentralisation, hailed as the saviour of real-time AI. We are merely correcting a fundamental design flaw. The emperor was always naked, we just chose to ignore it. When will we truly learn from past architectural blunders?
The strongest counter
Edge AI is a stop-gap, not a solution. The cloud will adapt, offering hybrid models that outperform localised processing in the long run. Centralisation always wins.
