Gen Z: The Loneliest Generation, Courtesy of Digital Connection
Despite hyper-connectivity, young people are experiencing unprecedented levels of loneliness. Our digital lives are failing us.

The notion that endless digital connection would foster genuine human bonds was always a delusion. Gen Z, raised on screens, is now reaping the bitter harvest of curated lives and shallow interactions. This generation confuses performative online presence with authentic relationship building. We have traded depth for breadth, and the result is an epidemic of profound isolation. Social media does not connect people; it merely displays them. Loneliness is the inevitable consequence of a permanently online existence.
Blaming technology for loneliness ignores deeper societal issues like urbanisation, economic precarity, and the breakdown of traditional communities. Digital platforms are merely a reflection of these underlying problems, not their cause.
- ·Digital connection is superficial
- ·Authenticity is lost online
- ·Screens breed isolation
