Mainstream media’s recent scramble for “disability representation” is a performative charade. Showcasing disabled individuals without challenging systemic ableism is tokenism, not progress. We don’t need more inspiring stories of overcoming adversity, we need fundamental shifts in societal structures. When will we move beyond mere visibility to genuine equity and dismantling of barriers?
