AI in Schools: Another Folly

Preservice teachers unprepared for AI means schools are charging headfirst into another educational fad, ill-conceived and poorly executed.

AI in Schools: Another Folly
FO Take · Score 20

The integration of AI into basic education is a catastrophic misstep. We are churning out 'AI-ready' teachers who merely parrot algorithmic outputs, stifling genuine critical thought and human-centric teaching. This isn't progress; it's a regression to an age of information transmission, not knowledge creation. Why are we so eager to replace pedagogy with programming?

The strongest counter

AI in education, even with unprepared teachers, offers unprecedented personalisation and data-driven insights. It is a necessary evolution, not a folly.
