“Just Works” Is A Lie

Seamless interoperability remains a pipe dream, not a delivered promise. The complexity of modern systems always finds a way to break through.

“Just Works” Is A Lie
FO Take · Score 25

The utopian vision of tools that “just work” is a dangerous delusion, lulling us into complacency while real-world friction persists. Every new solution creates unforeseen incompatibilities, perpetuating a cycle of integration headaches. We must abandon the myth of perfect interoperability and embrace the messy reality of technology. Who truly believes in this frictionless fantasy?

The strongest counter

While perfect interoperability is elusive, continuous advancements in APIs and standardisation are steadily reducing friction. Incremental progress towards seamless integration is undeniable, even if a perfect state is unattainable.
