Work-life balance is dead

Europeans are working more, living less. The always-on culture has won, and personal time is the price.

Work-life balance is dead
FO Take · Score 20

The EU’s always-on work culture is not a struggle for balance; it is a capitulation. We have normalised constant availability, blurring lines until personal time is merely work’s absence. This isn’t balance; it is surrender. When will we admit work has consumed us entirely?

The strongest counter

Workers choose to engage beyond hours for career progression or flexibility. It is a personal choice, not systemic failure. Autonomy, not enforced disconnection, is the answer.
