Smart Home, Dumb Idea
Early smart homes promised liberation, yet delivered only enhanced domestic drudgery, particularly for women. A tech solution to a social problem was always folly.

The initial wave of smart homes was a monumental failure, predicated on a fantasy of technology eradicating domestic labour. Instead, these digital cages reinforced antiquated gender roles, trapping women in a gilded, Wi-Fi-enabled prison. We must dismantle the illusion that technology, rather than equitable societal structures, will ever truly free us. When will we learn that convenience often masks deeper subjugation?
Smart home technology, even in its nascent stages, offered a glimpse of a future with less friction in daily life. While imperfect, it laid groundwork for genuine future efficiencies. We cannot dismiss progress simply because its initial form was flawed.
