Cybersecurity’s Perpetual Patchwork Problem

The endless race to patch vulnerabilities reveals a broken system, not just bad code.

Cybersecurity’s Perpetual Patchwork Problem
FO Take · Score 25

Our cybersecurity strategy is a house of cards built on reactive fixes. Focusing solely on patching known vulnerabilities is a fool’s errand, ignoring systemic design flaws that invite new exploits daily. We are funding a perpetual war against symptoms, not causes. When will we stop bandaging bullet wounds and redesign the battlefield?

The strongest counter

Reactive patching is crucial for immediate defence. Without it, even well-designed systems are vulnerable to known threats, leaving organisations exposed to easy attacks.
