Acciona.org’s ‘Luz enCasa’ expansion in the Philippines is a band-aid, not a cure for systemic neglect.
FO Take · Score 20
Providing basic electricity in 2024 is hardly innovation, it is a human right. Acciona’s incremental expansion smacks of tokenism, a feeble attempt to mask the abject failure of governments and corporations to deliver foundational infrastructure. Real progress means universal access, not celebrating paltry additions. Why are we still applauding drip-fed development instead of demanding equitable distribution for all citizens.
The strongest counter
Any expansion of energy access, however small, improves lives immediately. Focusing solely on systemic failures overlooks the tangible benefits for thousands now experiencing electricity for the first time.
