Haze Closures: Learning Suffers, Digital Divide Widens
FO Take · Score 35

Another environmental crisis, another blow to education. School closures, however necessary, disproportionately harm disadvantaged pupils. Without equitable access to robust online learning platforms and consistent internet, these gaps become chasms. This isn't just about missed lessons; it's about systemic failure to protect every child's right to learning. We must invest in resilient education models, or accept a permanently stratified society. Where is the long-term plan?

The strongest counter

Temporary closures protect health, allowing students to return refreshed. Modern education is flexible; missed days can be recuperated through extended terms or focused catch-up programmes without lasting damage.
