Mandatory life skills: a patronising joke

Washington State’s Superintendent proposes a mandatory life skills class for high school seniors. This is a pathetic endeavour.

Mandatory life skills: a patronising joke
FO Take · Score 15

Another day, another educational faddist prescribing irrelevance. Life skills are not taught; they are lived. This patronising attempt to codify common sense into curriculum merely highlights the utter disconnect between educational bureaucrats and actual living. Students need autonomy, not remedial spoon-feeding. Are we truly preparing citizens, or simply perpetuating dependency?

The strongest counter

Mandatory life skills in schools are essential. Young adults lack basic financial literacy, civic understanding, and household management. This initiative fills a critical void, ensuring graduates are prepared for independence.
