Robots Get Wet

New IMR vessel launch signals full automation of offshore inspection. Humans need not apply to this grim future.

Robots Get Wet
FO Take · Score 85

Another vessel launched, another nail in the coffin of offshore careers. Soon, robots will plumb the depths, inspecting and repairing with tireless precision. This isn't progress for humankind; it is a relentless march towards a workless future for those in hazardous industries. What purpose then for the able-bodied seafarer?

The strongest counter

Specialised human oversight will always be required for complex offshore operations. Autonomy enhances, rather than replaces, skilled professionals in niche sectors.
