Drones are not the future of dirty work
FO Take · Score 20

The drone industry peddles a utopian vision of robots freeing humanity from undesirable labour. This is a fantasy. For every dirty job a drone supposedly eliminates, it creates several more in maintenance, operation, and regulation. We are glorifying new forms of drudgery. What problem are we truly solving here, beyond justifying venture capital?

The strongest counter

Drones offer a pragmatic solution to genuine dangers. They minimise human exposure to hazardous environments and improve efficiency where human intervention is costly or impossible.
