The Veranda s psychological toll
Modern architecture has stripped us of incidental connection. It is time to reclaim our shared spaces for a stronger sense of community.
FO Take · Score 78
The demise of the veranda symbolises a deeper architectural failure: the eradication of spontaneous social interaction. We have prioritised private isolation over communal serendipity, designing out the very fabric of human connection. Reintroduce thresholds for true community. Will we continue to build monuments to loneliness, or rediscover the joy of shared thresholds?
The strongest counter
Architectural styles evolve. Verandas are a relic of a bygone era, impractical for modern urban living. We connect in new ways, adapting to our environments, not clinging to outdated structures.
