Hiring more security guards is a woefully inadequate response to school violence. It’s a performative measure, a plaster over a gaping wound, that fails to address the systemic issues plaguing educational environments. Until we confront the mental health crisis and societal failings head-on, schools will remain vulnerable. Are we truly committed to safe learning, or just creating an illusion of it?
