Solo founders will build empires alone and pay with their sanity

Automation makes one-person enterprises viable, but trading boardroom friction for existential isolation guarantees an epidemic of founder burnout.

Solo founders will build empires alone and pay with their sanity
FO Take · Score 84

Removing co-founder conflict sounds neat until you confront the psychic cost of operating in an absolute vacuum. Software executes code, writes copy, and closes books, yet it offers zero camaraderie during existential crises. The transition from collaborative friction to solitary command will not make founders happier; it will make them brittle. Relieving human tension only amplifies isolation. When the entire enterprise lives inside one skull, who talks you down from the edge?

The strongest counter

Building alone remains a perilous strategic blunder. Diverse perspectives hedge against hubris, split psychological pressure, and establish early culture. Software can execute tasks, but it cannot challenge your fundamental assumptions.
