AI won't fix disaster, you will

AI excels at pattern recognition, less so at unpredictable disaster. We need human ingenuity, not algorithmic overconfidence, when crisis strikes.

AI won't fix disaster, you will
FO Take · Score 35

The hype around AI in disaster management is a dangerous delusion. Algorithms thrive on predictable patterns, yet disasters are inherently chaotic. Real-time, nuanced human judgment remains irreplaceable. Equipping people, not just machines, is the only true preparedness. Are we seriously outsourcing our survival to code?

The strongest counter

AI offers undeniable speed and scale in processing vast disaster data. Its ability to identify subtle shifts and optimise resource allocation far surpasses human capability alone. To dismiss it is short-sighted.
