Stop hiring outside teachers: build the pipeline directly inside the classroom

To rescue public education, stop recruiting via generic job boards and start turning classrooms into self-sustaining talent incubators.

Stop hiring outside teachers: build the pipeline directly inside the classroom
FO Take · Score 84

The teaching crisis will not be solved by desperate recruitment campaigns or lowering qualification thresholds. Sharif El-Mekki understands the fundamental truth: you cannot recruit teachers from the outside when the internal system repels them. The only sustainable model is an apprenticeship pipeline built directly inside schools, turning students into educators before cynicism sets in. If communities cannot staff their own classrooms with people who reflect them, public education will simply wither into obsolescence.

The strongest counter

Recruiting solely on demographic representation risks sidelining general pedagogical rigour. Systemic education reform demands systemic pay rises and better working conditions for all teachers first, not bespoke pipeline initiatives.
