Reality TV animation: next frontier or scraping the barrel?

Paramount's animated 'Survivor' movie signals a worrying trend for creative bankruptcy. Is nothing sacred?

Reality TV animation: next frontier or scraping the barrel?
FO Take · Score 20

An animated 'Survivor' movie sounds like a terrible idea. Reduced to a cartoon, the show’s core appeal – watching real people pushed to their limits – vanishes. This isn't innovation; it's a blatant cash grab, further diluting genuine artistry through a desperate pursuit of fleeting trends. There will be no 'immunity idol' for this. When will studios learn that some concepts are best left alone?

The strongest counter

Animation offers fresh narrative avenues for established IPs like Survivor, expanding reach to new audiences while revitalising the brand. It is imaginative content repurposing at its finest.
