Chinese university students and instructors struggle with feedback literacy in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) listening comprehension.
FO Take · Score 36
Feedback in EFL is a broken record. Students cannot use it, and instructors cannot give it effectively. This study confirms what we already knew: the system is failing. We need a radical overhaul of how feedback is conceived and delivered, not more tinkering around the edges. When will we admit that current feedback mechanisms are largely performative rather than formative?
The strongest counter
The study highlights a clear path to improving EFL listening feedback through targeted interventions. Focus on developing explicit feedback literacy skills for both students and instructors, rather than discarding existing frameworks.
