University Loneliness Is a Design Flaw
Higher education is failing students by fostering isolation rather than genuine community. It is time for a radical rethink.

Universities preach holistic development, yet their institutional structures actively foster loneliness. Rote lectures, impersonal campuses, and a focus on individual achievement over collective flourishing produce isolated graduates ill-equipped for a connected world. The system prioritises profit over communal welfare. Higher education must be redesigned to cultivate deep social bonds, not just academic credentials. Anything less is a betrayal of its true purpose. Students deserve more than just a degree; they deserve a real community.
Students are adults responsible for their own social lives. Universities provide opportunities; it is up to individuals to engage. Over-parenting institutions stifles independence and personal growth.
