Charity Doesn't Cure Loneliness

Volunteering is a band-aid, not a cure, for the systemic failures eroding genuine human connection.

Charity Doesn't Cure Loneliness
FO Take · Score 25

The notion that organised charity can staunch the bleeding of a loneliness epidemic is a comforting delusion. It absolves society of its real responsibilities, pushing symptom management over root cause resolution. We need authentic communities, not curated service opportunities. Are we truly so bereft of organic connection that we must schedule our altruism to feel whole?

The strongest counter

While systemic issues are undeniable, collective service offers tangible, immediate benefits. Practical engagement, even structured, can genuinely foster belonging and combat isolation for many.
