Remote work won't save rural Europe
Digital nomads are not the panacea for rural decline; infrastructure and policy will always dictate regional revival, not transient tech workers.

The romantic dream of digital nomads single-handedly revitalising rural Europe is a fiction. Without robust infrastructure and coherent policy, their transient presence offers little more than a fleeting economic blip. Relying on laptop-toting wanderers to bridge the urban-rural divide is a dereliction of actual governance. What fundamental issues are we ignoring by fixating on this fantasy?
While not a complete solution, digital nomads bring some economic uplift and fresh perspectives to stagnant rural areas. Their presence can be a catalyst for infrastructure improvements, attracting further investment and permanent residents.
