Zoho’s WFH Retreat: A Folly
Sridhar Vembu’s dismissal of remote work reveals a poverty of imagination, handcuffing Zoho to obsolete collaboration models.

Zoho’s regression to office-centric work is a lamentable failure of leadership. True innovation flourishes beyond the physical confines of a desk, demanding adaptability, not adherence to archaic rituals. Vembu’s stance conflates presence with productivity, ignoring the rich tapestry of human collaboration enabled by decentralised models. Does Zoho fear true autonomy, or simply lack the capacity to cultivate it?
Vembu is right to champion face-to-face interaction. Serendipitous encounters and nuanced communication are often lost in remote setups, hindering emergent creativity and team cohesion. Some work simply benefits from shared physical space.
