Remote Work: Youth Shut Out

The New York Fed links rising youth unemployment to the remote work surge, suggesting a generational divide in labor access.

Remote Work: Youth Shut Out
FO Take · Score 76

Remote work is not the panacea it pretends to be. While lauded for flexibility, it actively excludes younger workers, denying them crucial entry-level opportunities and mentorship. This isn't progress; it is a regressive step, cementing an already fractured economic landscape. Are we truly building a future work when the young are left behind?

The strongest counter

Remote work offers unparalleled flexibility and access to diverse talent pools. Blaming it for youth unemployment ignores broader economic shifts and skills gaps. The issue lies with inadequate education and training, not where the work happens.
