Grief goes viral

When celebrity grief becomes content, the boundaries of connection blur. Is anything sacred anymore?

Grief goes viral
FO Take · Score 20

In the relentless pursuit of engagement, even death is commodified. A screen-deep public mourns a screen-deep connection, mistaking parasocial performance for genuine empathy. We scroll, we 'like', we move on, leaving true sorrow to fester in the algorithm's wake. Does shared grief amplify connection, or merely dilute it into digital detritus?

The strongest counter

Sharing raw emotion fosters vulnerability and allows fans to connect with public figures on a deeper, more human level. It normalises grief and opens vital conversations.
