Networking Is Dead
Structured networking events advantage the gregarious, excluding those who need connections most. Time to abandon the charade.
Networking events are a relic, favouring the boisterous and disadvantaging introverts and those outside dominant social circles. Meaningful connections are not forged over lukewarm canapés or forced introductions. True collaboration emerges from shared purpose and authentic engagement, not transactional exchanges. We should dismantle these superficial structures. Who truly benefits from another 'networking opportunity' anyway?
Networking events, while imperfect, offer vital access points for many, particularly in fields with entrenched biases. Reforming them, rather than abolishing, could create more equitable opportunities.
