Indian schools prioritise academic achievement, neglecting essential life skills and emotional well-being, says IAS officer Divya Mittal.
FO Take · Score 75
Mittal is right: education today is a ruthless forge for the job market, not a crucible for character. We churn out anxious automatons, skilled at tests, inept at life. This relentless pursuit of grades over growth cripples genuine personal development. Why do we tolerate a system that creates brilliant, broken people?
The strongest counter
Academic rigour is foundational. Happiness is subjective and best taught at home. Schools cannot be responsible for every aspect of a child's development without diluting their core educational mission.
